The pole-less combination of sleeve door linked fire/smoke shutters eliminates fixed vertical supports that obstruct visibility and passage, which detracted from the design aesthetics, by incorporating the shutter's guide rails into the leading edge of the fire door with an emergency child door. This increases the design flexibility for disaster prevention spaces. In the event of a fire, the sleeve door rotates and closes/locks in response to signals from smoke (heat) detectors, followed by the fire/smoke shutter descending under its own weight to fully close and form a fire prevention compartment.
